Sharon became a member of the Sjögren's Foundation nearly 15 years ago. She immediately began supporting the Foundation as a donor and got involved as a volunteer through the Phoenix Walk for Sjögren’s. Her participation grew increasingly each year, and she played a major part in each event as a donor, a sponsor, a volunteer, and a committee member! In addition to regularly asking friends and family for donations, Sharon recruited sponsors from throughout the Phoenix area that have returned year after year because of her. She became the chair of the Phoenix Walk and was a major reason for the Phoenix Walk’s growth and continued success. In 2020-2021, the Foundation had the pleasure of awarding Sharon and Larry the Foundation’s Development Service Award to recognize their amazing efforts for so many years.

Sharon also gave her time to serve as a Sjögren’s patient support volunteer taking calls from other patients and helped with the Phoenix area Sjögren's Support Group. Roles that were a perfect fit given her desire to help others and her compassionate and caring nature.

While Sharon’s support and involvement were invaluable, it was her kindness, her thoughtfulness, and her warmth, that stood out the most. She worked with several different staff at the Foundation and each one shared the same sentiment – what a kind, sweet, loving individual. We always looked forward to seeing Sharon and Larry in person at the Walk events and miss her dearly.

The Foundation is incredibly grateful for Sharon’s dedication and support and is  grateful to have had the pleasure of knowing her. The Foundation offers our deepest condolences to Larry and Sharon’s entire family, and we thank them for sharing her with us. We consider ourselves very lucky.
