Join us Saturday, April 13th at 10am ET via Zoom for the Mid-Atlantic & National Walk Opening Ceremony and then celebrate your strength as you walk, your way, through your neighborhood, park, or anywhere you choose. Show up so we will help the foundation with their 40th walk theme; Conquering Sjögren’s, One Step at a Time!
They say better late than never!! Here I am to ask for your support for my 4th annual walk for Sjogren’s. Last year we weren’t able to meet up due to a bad storm. Most of us still participated via zoom and did our walk on our own. This year I’m hoping for great weather, an awesome turnout, and the strength to walk. You all know it’s been a tough road of recovery with this last knee replacement. My kids joke and say I resemble a T-Rex to the T, when walking. My new nickname is Rexi of course short for Tyrannosaurus Rex (short arms, big butt and bent knee when walking), haha!! I am getting better One Step at a Time, just like this year's theme. Like a soldier, it’s time for me to put one foot in front of the other!
I have seen many of emails regarding the walk this year, but the truth is I wasn’t sure I could. I was waiting for a nudge from my friend at the foundation, to give me that push to register and begin fundraising. However, today I have to make my own move, because I’m not in this by myself and others need me too. I am increasing my walking without my cane now, so let’s do this!
My word for 2021-PURPOSE, 2022-RESILIENCE, and 2023 BALANCE. This year my word is RENEW; I selected this word early in the year! To RENEW is to to make like new: restore to freshness, vigor, or perfection. as we renew our strength in sleep. 2.: to make new spiritually: regenerate. While I still need BALANCE, I definitely need full recovery and for my knee to become like new! So, let me share with you my goals to have full renewal. In order for me to reach a state of renewal I will need to regularly work on four key dimensions of my life:
Brain/Mental Dimension- I need to work on my positive mindset. I need to work on listening to myself more and creating and enforcing boundaries. I will do this by reading, and journaling more. I also will reduce my stress and relax more.
Body/Physical Dimension- I will eat cleaner, lose weight, walk/swim, and sleep more.
Heart- I will work on my own self-love, and forgiveness. Putting me first is not selfish!
Spiritual- I will become more self-aware, be open to receiving blessing, continue to be grateful, count my blessings, be thankful, and self-reflect to find that deeper connection with myself.
Thanks for letting me share my word and what that means to me. It’s time for me to bring this letter to an end and hit send.
Even though I’m late there is plenty of time to donate to Sjogren’s Foundation. Help us surpass the fundraising goals from 2023. I look forward to your support.
