It is a debilitating condition that leads to loss of saliva production and many systemic effects across the whole body that lead to a low quality of life, increased propensity for cancer, and depression. In better understanding Sjogren's disese with research, we can make a difference for these patients in the future. As Sjogren's is related to other autoimmune and fibrotic diseases, this work can also potentially impact development of diagnostics and therapeutics for many other similar conditions.
