About the Midwest Walk for Sjögren's

Walk for Sjögren’s is a national awareness and fundraising program that takes place across the country every spring and fall. They are an amazing series of events where patients build community, interact with Sjögren’s experts, educate family and friends, increase Sjögren’s awareness, and raise crucial funds to support Sjögren's research and education. This year, we are also commemorating 40 years of Sjögren’s progress with our special walk theme: Conquering Sjögren’s, One Step at a Time!

We are so excited to host the very first Midwest Walk. We would like to specifically thank our volunteer walk chair Amy Kraus and Dr. Sara McCoy who helped make this Walk a reality!

Dr. Sara McCoy is a true Sjögren’s Champion. She is a faculty member in the University of Wisconsin's Division of Rheumatology within the Department of Medicine. She is a clinical rheumatologist and the director of the UW Health Sjögren’s clinic. She is also a member of the Sjögren’s Foundation Board of Directors.

There are many ways that you can get involved:

Participate on Event Day – Make a difference right where you are. Attend the Opening Ceremony and then walk to raise awareness. (Walking is optional.) By attending, you support all Sjögren's patients, celebrate all of the individuals who raised valuable funds and awareness, and can learn more about the disease from our amazing experts. Your support is invaluable.

  • Visit the Sjögren’s table to get more information
  • Ask your questions of the amazing Sjögren’s experts
  • Enjoy live entertainment from vocal trio Bob's Your Uncle from Madison, WI
  • Get your picture taken in front of the Foundation's Step & Repeat Banner
  • Create your own Sjögren’s sign to carry when you walk
  • Say hello to Maynard the Mallard

Raise Awareness and Vital Funds – Make a significant impact in the fight against Sjögren’s by registering, making a donation and/or rallying friends and family and encourage them to support your efforts.

Involve Your Friends – Invite your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers to participate as a part of your team! They can help by collecting donations while increasing awareness of Sjögren’s throughout your community! They can join you at the Opening Ceremony and walk with you at Elver Park!

Join the Movement – Many patients and loved ones who are dealing with Sjögren’s are fighting Sjögren’s together with you on this day. Knowing you are not alone in your fight and that there are others that can relate to what you go through on a daily basis is invaluable.
